Back in the day, there was a very popular place to eat a
simulated home cooked meal for dinner, lunch and especially breakfast. Waids on
103rd was right next door to our Junior High School in 1980's and on certain
lucky days of the year our parents would check us out of school and take us to
Waids for breakfast / lunch. Usually the day that we would get to go to Waids
103rd would be St. Patrick's Day before we headed downtown to watch the Kansas
City St. Patrick's Day Parade. There was also the occassional dr's appointment
day where mom would take you to Waids for lunch after your dr's appointment.
Many of us will always remember Waid's 103rd restaurant fondly from our days as
crazy preteens. Waids reviews were always great and we loved eating there for
breakfast as often as possible, especially if it involved getting out of school.
Some students probably skipped school to go eat next door but of course, we
never did anything like that. Waids was known for serving up simulated home
cooked simple meals like biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs, lunch sandwiches
and of course meatloaf. The restaurant chain has all but gone away for good as
the aging clientel are probably in nursing homes by now and the new generation
of seniors weren't raised eating that simple type of food. For what it's worth
though, thanks Waids for the memories, we will always remember your welcoming
green awning and the constant stream of coffee that you kept pumping for us for
years. Please

2017 Today as we all filed into Center Jr. High for another grueling day of classes, we wondered who's parents would be cool enough to check us all out of school to go to the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Finally, around the middle of 2nd period, after home room, our magical pink check out slips came to each of our classrooms - the McBride's had saved us once again! 2016 Even all the way up until they closed, I used to go up to the 103rd and State Line location in Watts Mill and eat some meatloaf for lunch. You could tell that they were on their last leg, there was hardly anyone in there. Waids Reviews - Kansas City Restaurant |
